Ron & Debbie Steinkirchner
(On the Ferris Wheel-Navy Pier-Chicago 2010)

In 1995 Ron Steinkirchner ask Jeff if he would instruct Debbie on becoming a square dance caller. After just a few sessions Jeff knew that Debbie had  "what it takes" to become a good caller". "I was very impressed with Debbie's singing voice". "Her register was much lower than most lady callers and she knows how to sing that is, the mechanics of singing". Of course the "Patter Calling" was foreign to her but because Debbie is quite adept at playing strategy  type games it wasn't long before she had a command of patter calling.  She sings excellent harmony and has assisted Jeff with his singing.
The rest as they say is history. Since that time the Palmers and the Steinkirchners  have called literally hundreds of dances together, produced a CD, "On The Road with Jeff and Debbie" which has sold hundreds of copies and have traveled together both on and off the square dancing scene every since. The calling chemistry between them is obvious and is always a crowd pleaser.   In 2009 they formed a Plus DBD club called "Plus with Attitude" that dances on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday's of the month. Debbie was also nominated in three categories (Best Female Singing Call Caller, Best Female Patter Caller, and Best Female Caller) for the 1st annual Ozzie Awards held in April 2011 in Las Vegas.
Plans for a new CD are in the works.

Bear Miller
(With the Chicago Skyline in the Background 2010)

Jeff and Debbie first met "Da Bear" and his bride Sandy at the Colorado State Convention in Pueblo in 1997 when Bear was a new caller. Their friendship grew from there and have called together many times since. Through Bear's fantastic promoting skills he has provided Jeff with many opportunities to call with Bear in places and at special events that he would not have otherwise.  "Funny thing as when Bear started calling he was as green as a pool table and twice as square".  Jeff and "Da Bear" have had many discussions concerning the square dance activity.  When Bear was first calling "his head was harder than Chinese arithmetic"  but as time progressed and Bear's continued dedication to the square dance calling trade "Da Bear" has become a top notch caller and "very much in command of his craft" and is a "caller in demand". Bear is on the executive board of governors for Callerlab and is in the process of becoming a Callerlab accredited caller coach. Jeff enjoys calling and travelling with "Da Bear"  and the mischievous fun between them is almost always apparent when calling together.  Future plans include a Mountain Magic CD and of course some sort of shenanigans are always in the works.

Roger Schappell

Jeff isn't exactly sure when he met Roger. Their friendship grew as being a part of Callerlab, Mountain Magic and calling at the state festivals. "Roger is a great caller with unlimited energy and if put to a task will get it done no matter what." Jeff recalls,  "One of the first times I called with Roger I noticed he liked to wear his jeans real tight." "I accused him of putting his pants on with a spray gun!" At the end of the dance Jeff  stated that "Roger's pants were so tight that if he were were to stick a dime in his back pocket you could read the date on it." For quite some time after that when Roger would call someplace all the ladies at the dance would throw dimes at him!  " Roger's calling expertise takes him all over the Midwest and will travel from like Spearfish South Dakota one night and be in Salida CO the next night calling a dance. Jeff says, "Sometimes I don't think Roger owns a map!" "One of the funniest things I ever heard was time we were all calling separate dances in Denver on the same night. We decided to meet after our dances for some refreshment and to yak. Roger was the last one to arrive and he came in talking pretty loud and rapidly. When he got near the table Roger was still carrying on about this and that and the waitress looked him straight in the eye and said "Sit down and shut up......Caller Boy!" He hasn't lived that one down.   Bear presented Roger with a belt that has "CALLER BOY" engraved on the back of it. Roger has been the butt of many a joke played on him by Bear & Jeff. The most famous one being of course the time he was dressed up like a sumo wrestler......so he would appear "a little more beefy" like Bear, Jeff, and Pat. Roger, not to be out done, gave Jeff, Bear, & Pat a can of Slim Fast and a pair of "Roger sized" jeans and told us. "I want you guys to wear these jeans to the dance next year," and they had better fit!"

More "Friends" to come!
